You most likely have multiple strengths and shortcomings. Concentrate on those which match the job offer. Use actual accomplishments to back them up. Avoid using “spin” for your flaws. Use a workable flaw instead of “My biggest weakness is that I have no weaknesses.” If you do that, you’ll always ace these nursing interview questions.
Sample Answer
“My ability to be kind and think creatively are two of my best strengths. There was one kid who experienced night terrors. Every few hours, he would scream himself awake. I wondered what my reaction would be if it were me instead of him. I spoke with him for a while. I realized right away that ten minutes of talking was all it took to calm his fear. For the following five nights, I arrived early to spend time with him, and eventually, those episodes stopped. The other patients on the unit could sleep comfortably once again after his night terrors stopped. What is my biggest flaw? When other nurses don’t do their part, it irritates me, and it’s obvious on my face.”
This answer is ideal for any hospital’s requirements. The flaw is real and understandable, yet it demonstrates a strong work ethic. You’ll ace the interview if you can respond to questions on nursing like this.
